Right, having charged the iPod, packed a spare battery for the mobile and checked in with the airline on-line, I’m off on holiday for the rest of the month and will pick up on my return. Things to look out for over the next two weeks include more outputs from the FSA about their ‘tough new stance’, any announcements whatsoever about the roll-out of smart metering from DECC, and more tête-à-têtes as the Postal Services Bill continues through Parliament. Yesterday in Parliament, one of 2009′s most controversial pieces of legislation – the Postal Services Bill – received its second reading. With Lord Mandelson driving the Bill through the House of Lords and strong opinions held across both Houses of Parliament, it promises to be an interesting few months of parliamentary activity, to put it mildly.
