New network for IT and related industries launches to nurture tomorrow’s leaders
Intellect launches Young Professionals’ Network

Intellect, the trade association for the UK IT, telecommunications and electronics industries, will today launch the Intellect Young Professionals’ Network, which aims to highlight the all-pervasive nature of the technology industry in our modern economy. Membership of the network is open to all young professionals in the hi-tech and connected industries and nearly 200 people have already registered to participate.

The network will look to engage young professionals with the wider aspects of the ICT industry and offer an environment to network, socialise and share experiences. Industry leaders, public officials and experts will be invited to speak at the events, providing members with advice and guidance on career and business goals. The network will be lead by young professionals with support from a variety of patrons, including: John Suffolk, government CIO; Karen Price, CEO of e-skills; John Leighfield, Chairman of RM Plc and Anu Khurmi, chair of the network and Business Area Leader at IBM.

Commenting on the Intellect Young Professionals Network, John Suffolk said: “As head of the IT profession for Government, I would encourage young professionals across the ICT sector to get involved in this network. This is an excellent opportunity to both develop their careers and see the importance of their roles within a wider context. The growth of a skilled workforce to deliver business programmes enabled by technology is crucial to delivering the Transformational Government agenda.”

Anu Khurmi comments, “It takes a lot to get ahead in today's competitive market, and young business people want to make their mark early. The network is not about targeting the 'top talent' within organisations, its about recognising all young professionals are important contributors to the workplace and our future. We hope it will show people who work in all sorts of areas related to technology how important they are to each other and how they can better work together.”
