Product Usability Workshop
11 October 2005

Over 40 delegates attended a workshop focusing on Product Usability held at Intellect's offices on 11 October.

Speakers included representatives from Nokia, Ofcom and Media Research. The seminar focused on research by Ofcom and looked at plans for a DTG 'knowledge network' scheme, which could help industry establish and make available to the industry most of the 'best practice' ideas.

The day finished with a panel session, looking at the future challenges of usability in the climate of Digital Switchover. A number of suggestions emerged that included:

  • Intellect should provide some suggested wording for complex descriptions that could be used in user guides and TV on-screen menus
  • Intellect and DTI should provide a suite of ICONS and brief explanatory strap lines that could describe product features
  • Intellect should provide some guidance for the public as to what questions they should ask when considering purchasing DTV Equipment. This information could be made available to the public via Digital UK and Freeview.
