Research is being conducted on the C4ISTAR (Command, Control, Communications and Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance)sector and how it can best be implemented under the Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS). A working paper by Intellect will be presented to the MoD in September. This move follows the MoD actively welcoming dialogue from industry and trade associations. The paper will be based on information derived from a series of debates and interviews led by Intellect members, key C4ISTAR officials within the defence agencies, and end users at the MoD. As a white paper, the DIS is largely deemed to have energised the defence industry, yet within the C4ISTAR domain, industry desires a workable route map to be put in place.
