The Battlespace Systems Council represents the interests of Intellect members in the key area of system solutions in and around the battlespace. This is a cross-domain area, where technology enables UK Defence and coalition partners to achieve new capabilities, utilising and integrating the personnel, equipment and information assets of all three services. The technology industry delivers capabilities which support and enhance operations, and is a willing partner to Government in delivering effective solutions for UK Defence.  

The Council’s role is to use industry’s experience to help policymakers and stakeholders develop solutions and processes to deal with capability challenges. Working at policy and pre-competitive levels, the Council seeks to influence both Government and industry’s behaviour through workshops, forums and informative meetings, as well as through policy consultations, the production of original papers and thought leadership work.

Established at the beginning of 2008, the Council is seeking to address the following key themes over the coming year:

• Combat identification (including situational awareness)
• Through life capability management
• Incrementalism and modularity
• Commercial-off-the-shelf procurement
• International comparators and models
