Having gained an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wales, Ian joined Bechtel International and subsequently the Moody Tottrup Group of Companies where ultimately he became an International Board Director. From 1991 to 1994 Ian was seconded to HM Government to lead the market testing initiative. In 1994 he joined Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as an associate partner and within the year became the worldwide head of eCommerce for the public sector. From 1999 he headed the EMEAI Government Centre, a thought leadership and strategy centre for the development of innovative uses of new technologies in the public sector. Also during 1998 to 2000, Ian was the Deputy Chairman of the Docklands Light Railway, having originally been appointed to the board of the DLR in 1995 as a non-executive director.
In 2000 he set up his own company to provide Business Strategy and Development Services and to enable him to take on further non executive responsibilities. He was Chairman of the European Ecommerce Association from 2000 to 2003. Currently, Ian is Chairman at Sysdoc Group. Chairman of two technology companies, and adviser to the board of two other companies.
