Advising Telewest Communications on the liberalisation of the directory enquiries market in the UK and various commercial contracts.  
 
Advising a major internet service provider on a dispute with BT concerning the roll-out of wholesale broadband services in the UK.  
 
Advising MCI WorldCom on various standard form customer contracts.  
 
Advising on the supplier contracts supporting .Zingo., a taxi hailing system which makes use of mobile telephone cell of origin data to hail the nearest cab.  
 
Advising a major online shopping portal on its content acquisition programme and Telewest Communications on aspects of its interactive television service.  
 
General Experience  
 
Alexander is an assistant solicitor in the IT & Telecoms Group who advises on the commercial contract and regulatory aspects of the communications industry with a particular focus on telecommunications, the Internet and e-commerce. He also regularly advises on data protection and privacy matters both in relation to the communications industry and generally.  
 
As well as working in private practice Alexander has spent eight months working in-house in the Telewest Communications legal department.  
 
Background  
 
Alexander graduated from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 1996 with a degree in law and qualified as a solicitor in 1999. He is one of the co-authors and editors of .E-commerce Law: doing business online. (Palladian Publishing, September 2001) as well as the author of articles dealing with issues ranging from the implementation of broadband in the UK to the privacy implications of the use of RFID tags in consumer goods.
