Chris joined Infineon Technologies (then Siemens Semiconductors) in 1998 as the Business Development Manager for Security & Chipcard IC’s, with 20 years experience in the semiconductor industry. His focus is on the financial, telecoms and government markets for smartcards. He has been active on several government advisory committees helping to set the card standards for the UK, and support new security solutions. He has spent considerable time working with biometric solutions from access control to PKI. He is involved in the support of projects as diverse as passports to phonecards. Prior to Infineon Technologies, Mr Shire was employed by Philips Semiconductors for over 15 years in a number of roles. He has been responsible for the managing of resources across the globe, including business development of organisations in both South Africa and Israel. Chris received his degree in Electronics & Electrical engineering from Kingston in 1977. He is an avid member of the IEE and also has been a speaker at many seminars including the Association for Biometrics, RHUL ISG, WSST 2003 and is active with the UK Smartcard Club, and Eurotag.
