· Advising in relation to the outsourcing of the actuarial function and IT of a bank’s closed book life business  
 
General experience  
 
Michael specialises in technology procurement and outsourcing. He advises in relation to all aspects of technology law. His experience includes advising customers and suppliers in relation to global technology and business process outsourcings, international framework agreements for global hardware supply, and software development and supply for turn-key solutions.  
 
Michael has advised in relation to some of the largest global data network outsourcings in recent years, covering some 150 countries.  
 
Background  
 
Prior to joining Simmons & Simmons, Michael was a solicitor at Linklaters and a partner at another leading London firm.  
 
He has a PhD in law from Cambridge University and has co-authored leading texts on outsourcing: Sweet & Maxwell’s “Outsourcing Practice Manual” and Law Society Publishing’s “Technology Outsourcing”. He is regularly asked to speak on a range of technology and outsourcing issues and is guest lecturer in outsourcing at London University's Masters degree course in telecommunications law.  
 
Michael is recognised in “The Legal 500” as “a superb implementer of major projects” and in 2003 “The Lawyer” magazine voted him into its “Hot 100” lawyers in the United Kingdom.
