Concept Viability... early customer engagement with the supply community
Mobility Working Group
Next Meeting:
The widespread deployment of the latest mobile solutions across the public sector will have a considerable impact on the success of the Government’s transformation agenda, particularly as around one fifth of the current public sector workforce are mobile workers and there is the potential for this to increase dramatically over the coming years (Kable Research have forecast an increase in UK public sector expenditure for mobile workers, from just under £900m in 2004-2005 to £4.3bn by 2014-2015).
As well as making a significant contribution to the citizen’s interaction with government, mobile solutions have also evidenced significant cost-savings, improved productivity and an enhanced work-life balance. However, there are numerous challenges associated with the strategic deployment of mobile solutions in the public sector. Infrastructure is one element, and mobile solutions must be integrated into a wider process of business change (including supervision, guidance and training) to ensure benefits realisation.
