About the FSG
Intellect’s Financial Services Group (FSG) brings together over 150 suppliers of information systems, services and consultancy to the banking and insurance sectors. The group provides members with an opportunity to engage with the industry's key stakeholders on a wide range of issues, and share with the regulator and customer community the ‘art of the possible’ from the technology perspective.
Issues and Activities
The FSG helps the policy makers understand the impact of their decisions on banks and insurance companies, and their customers, and also helps members understand the impact on their business and make sure everyone is best placed to take advantage of new opportunities emering in this complex and controversial environment.
In 2009 the FSG tackled a number of key issues facing the FS marketplace. From banking reform to implementing Solvency II, the Group has engaged with external bodies to ensure members are able to discuss salient topics wioth policy makers, industry bodies and subject experts.
It is important that the technology industry is fully represented in these debates and in this crucial market area. We must make sure that new directives, regulations and chnages to the regulatory structure are based on the knowledge of what technology can do today and in the future, not simply fixing yesterday's problems with yesterday's technology.
Key issues for the FSG include banking reform (including changes to the FSCS), financial crime, regulatory developments both at the EU and UK levels, and data and information sharing and protection.
