Concept Viability... early customer engagement with the supply community
5 December 2007 – VEGA Group PLC (VEGA), the specialist Professional Services Company, has won a follow on two-year contract to provide continuing technical support to the Royal Navy’s future collective training programme, Maritime Composite Training System (MCTS).
VEGA has been awarded the contract by the Maritime Training Systems Integrated Project Team (MTS IPT).
MCTS will provide the Royal Navy with Warfare Operator Training, which will support the majority of current in-service frigates, destroyers and major surface platforms, as well as the new Type-45 destroyers.
The classroom-based training at HMS Collingwood’s Maritime Warfare School (MWS), will allow crews to experience a real-life training environment which can be adapted to accurately reflect whichever ship they need to interact with.
Based upon their collective experience of naval combat systems, synthetic environments and interoperability exercises, VEGA consultants will provide expert technical support on the future requirement of MCTS, and be part of all subsequent review and evaluation processes. This includes active participation in meetings, reviews, working groups, visits and acceptance trials.
VEGA has delivered training support to the Royal Navy’s MWS at Southwick Park and Collingwood since 1990, including training exercises such as Multi Battle Group In-port Exercises.
VEGA's Business Development Director for Government and Defence, Peter Armstrong, said: “We are delighted to continue our close relationship with MTS IPT. The expert advice VEGA provides to MTS IPT and the Royal Navy will support the evolution of warfare training both in the individual and collective training arena and contribute to training in an NEC environment. This is vital to ensuring the training Defence Line of Development is managed and integrated fully for their future Through Life Capability.”
