Paul Hewitt is an internal communications consultant with 13 years’ experience in the communications industry. Paul trained as a journalist in 1994, having initially completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry at Bath University. He spent time as a freelance journalist, including writing for a national newspaper, and from there undertook in-house copywriting and publications management roles for manufacturing and computer services companies, including City Technology, ICL and a B2B PR agency.  
 
In 2002 Paul moved into communications management, passing his MSc in Corporate Communication with Distinction at the same time as successfully undertaking his first corporate communications management role for a housing group. Having completed his first internal communications audit at the housing group, Paul’s interest in and passion for internal communications grew, in particular using his scientific background to apply numeric techniques to internal communications measurement. Paul has since held internal communications roles at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Norwich Union, before setting up consultancy Ogam Marketing in partnership with twin sister Karen in 2006. Paul has written a paper on the impact of email on internal communication (International Journal of Corporate Communication 2004) and a number of articles for Internal Communication magazine. He recently gave a talk at a CIPR conference on internal communications measurement.
