SME Programme Manager



Location:   Russell Square House
Hours:  Full time
Reports to: Delivery Director

Background

Intellect is the UK trade association for the IT, telecoms and electronics industries.  Our members account for over 80% of these markets and include blue-chip multinationals as well as early stage technology companies.  These industries together generate around 10% of UK GDP and 15% of UK trade.

Purpose of role    

  • To develop and implement Intellect’s offering to small and medium-sized companies. To act as a champion for SME interests both within Intellect and into the broader ITEC industry.
  • To increase the size of the SME membership and the engagement of SME members in Intellect’s activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with colleagues in Intellect’s Delivery Team to catalogue existing offerings, examine them and set out the business benefits. Maintain the catalogue as a living document.
  • Work to increase the involvement of SME members in Intellect; work with member representatives to extend and refine the services and opportunities offered by Intellect to SME members.
  • Work with Intellect’s Marcomms Team to develop the SME area of the Intellect website.
  • Work with Intellect’s Services and Events Teams to identify what they need to deliver for SMEs and how they should package/market it
  • Work with Intellect’s Membership and Marcomms Teams to ensure communication of the catalogue and the benefits of the various products within it.
  • Promote these benefits to members (e.g. examine the possibility of establishing local networks outside London to take advantage of these benefits)
  • Identify and then work with partners to access already established networks of SMEs to promote these benefits to members (in particular in the Regions and Nations)
  • Seek quick wins by re-purposing other delivery team outputs to be suitable for SME consumption and deliver benefits to SMEs.
  • Identify specific needs of the SME community that are not currently covered by other Intellect programmes
  • Act as voice of SMEs internally and develop business cases and arguments for the plugging of gaps with new products and services
  • Act as external spokesperson for SMEs as agreed with delivery directors (e.g. policy interventions) and PR manager

Skills and Attributes

  • Experience of business development, marketing and account management in professional services environment
  • Appreciation of social, economic, political landscape as it applies to ICT sector and SMEs in particular
  • Appreciation, understanding and practical experience of SME issues from an ‘insider’ perspective
  • Good understanding of marketing strategy 
  • Proven ability to construct and sell complex propositions to a mixture of audiences
  • Comfortable interacting at very senior levels
  • High level communication skills (written, verbal & presentation)
  • Relationship builder
