Constitution

  • The council will aim to have up to 15 members at any one time, plus the healthcare interest group chair and secretariat. The council must represent all levels of membership.
  • Each member will be allowed to serve a maximum 3 year term.
  • The chair and vice-chairs and the secretariat will form the council nominations committee.
  • The council chair and vice-chairs will be voted for at the end of each calendar year, prior to the acceptance of any nominations.
  • Members may stand for a second term at the discretion of the nominations committee.
  • To become a member of the council an Intellect member company must first nominate themselves. Members will then be selected by the council nominations committee. The only other remit covering the acceptance of nominations is that the council must remain representative of Intellect membership. This will be adhered to at the discretion of the nominations committee.
  • Council meetings will operate under Chatham house rules and while meetings will be minuted only actions will be attributed. Minutes will be made available on the Intellect website.
  • The council chair has the responsibility of reporting to the Intellect main board.
  • The Healthcare Interest Group chair has the responsibility of reporting on council meetings to the group and collating feedback for the council.

A representative group of senior executives from Intellect member companies - Intellect's Healthcare Council meets regularly to debate Intellect's healthcare policy and work programme. The council provides a consultative industry panel for Government and the NHS and Intellect healthcare members direct representation on the Supplier Consultation Group - the healthcare IT industry's formal collective interface with Richard Granger, Director General, NHS IT.
