First Ondemand® becomes partner in government's e-Delivery team

Released by First Ondemand on 04/04/2008

First Ondemand has been awarded Approved Partner status within the Government’s e-Delivery Team’s (eDT), Government Gateway Alliance Programme (GGAP).

“The ubiquity, security, open standards and bearer agnostic nature of First Ondemand’s Authentisec’s technology makes it well suited to meeting the requirements identified in Varney’s 2006 report*, and will provide a sound basis for further development and social inclusion.” said Ian Jenkins, Head of Business Protection & Resilience Consulting, First Ondemand. “Authentisec’s ability to securely unite cross-channel processes and simplify authentication for access to citizen services, offers new ways of working that closely aligns with the aim of transformed government services enabled by technology. Being awarded Approved Partner status by EDT is proof of First Ondemand’s capabilities and recognition of our solution and innovation by those with the most rigorous demands.”

EDT Business Relationship Partnering Manager, Damien Kennedy, said “I am delighted to have been able to welcome First Ondemand into the Government Gateway Alliance Partner community, and look forward to a long a productive business relationship with them, as we proceed towards a more technology-enabled transformational level of shared public service provision.”

Notes to editors: * Sir David Varney, former Chairman of HM Revenue & Customs, ‘Service transformation: A better service for citizens and businesses, a better deal for the taxpayer’ December 2006.

  1. EDT is a division of Transformational Government within the Cabinet Office, and is based in Birchwood, Warrington. The primary purpose of EDT is to sustain and develop the Government Gateway. To date GGAP (Government Gateway Alliance Partnership) has signed up over 40 private sector IT companies in order to co-ordinate and promote the roll out of the Government Gateway across the Public Sector

  2. Government Gateway is part of the critical central infrastructure that enables secure transactions and the delivery of government services to take place electronically. It acts as an intelligent hub; providing authentication services, verifying the integrity and validity of submitted transactions from citizens and businesses, and routing them to and from appropriate government organisations. It provides the infrastructure for the effective sharing of information, whilst enabling efficient management of security and privacy, as appropriate.

  3. First Ondemand is one of a new breed of innovative security and compliance software technology companies. With broad uncertainty in the market on how to address increasingly complex issues based around securing identities and authentication, First Ondemand have developed, in collaboration with Oracle, a solution that answers many of those problems.

  4. The Authentisec solution platform is designed to integrate into new or existing processes and applications. It is highly scalable making it ideal for building new future-facing strategies. This is particularly the case where there is convergence between the physical and digital world. First Ondemand is a member of Oracle’s Enterprise Security & GRC Initiative and an approved supplier of the Government’s ASPIRE ecosystem as a provider of ITC services to HM Revenue & Customs.
