European Policy Committee
Intellect owner: Jim Munro Intellect
Chair: Martin Atherton Head of EU Regulation BT plc
Vice Chair: Chris Godwin Government Programmes Executive IBM UK plc
Next meeting:
The primary role of the European Policy Committee is to ensure that Intellect gains maximum value from its membership of the EICTA Board; ensuring that Intellect views are fed in to the EICTA management process, that Intellect staff and interested Intellect members are briefed on EICTA developments, and any problems with EICTA processes are identified and addressed. The EPC will identify upcoming issues of significance to Intellect’s members, route them to Intellect WGs as appropriate, and prioritise the key topics. Intellect positions will then be used to steer EICTA’s activities and priorities. Synergies with other UK bodies such as the E-Business Regulatory Alliance, EURIM, and CBI will be explored. The EPC may also seek meetings with (inter alia) UKRep in Brussels, other European bodies and institutions, DBERR, Ofcom and the Treasury to explore agendas, priorities and issues. The EPC will have a flexible approach to the topics it considers but will not duplicate, or seek to anticipate, positions on European issues appropriate to other Intellect Committees. Intellect staff will provide the EPC with regular, concise, feedback highlighting problems and opportunities from their participation in EICTA activities. The EPC will meet approximately 4 times a year – usually in the fortnight preceding each EICTA Board meeting.
