President's Report 2008

Sean Finnan, President of IntellectIntellect is publishing its first President’s Report because we believe that the UK technology sector is at a pivotal point. The optimism of recent years has lessened.

“The UK technology sector is at a pivotal point... Intellect believes that ever-closer collaboration between government and the sector is essential if we are to grasp the opportunities at hand...”
Sean Finnan, President of Intellect, Regional Vice President, EDS, an HP company

In the UK, 98% of businesses rely on technology to power their operations.

However, the technology sector does not work in isolation.  Our sector is interwoven throughout our society, and our members work with partners and customers across different industries every day.  A thriving technology sector is the cornerstone of the UK economy, whose innovation and processes enable the success of virtually all our industries and is the force behind the societal and lifestyle changes that are revolutionising modern life.

If the UK wants to continue to be a dynamic global node in the knowledge era it needs to fully exploit technology as a facilitator of increased productivity and innovation across all sectors.
