The President's Report is for members of the technology industry as well as the industry’s stakeholder community – government, industry and users. It discusses the health of the UK technology sector; the impact technology has on our society as a whole and identifies six boosters that Intellect believes are vital to ensuring a prosperous UK technology sector and therefore a more productive UK.
To Intellect and its members, these six boosters are deeply interconnected. Trust cannot exist without an enabling infrastructure, which in turn cannot exist without professionalism along the entire supply chain. In whichever way we need to grow as an industry to meet our customers’ future needs, if we get these boosters right – and we encourage talent, trust, professionalism, innovation – then our reputation and relationships will surely become more robust.
The 21st century is bringing new challenges – such as the potential consequences of climate change, globalisation, infinite bandwidth, the emergence of new economic super powers and an increasingly mobile labour market. Intellect believes that the industry, its customers and government need to work together if it is going to meet and surpass these challenges.
We must embrace change, new business models and ensure that as an industry we fight for the required infrastructure, regulatory policy and economic environment we need to continue to build and develop the UK.
