Vice chair James Potter BASIS Limited James is a member of the management board of BASIS and has worked with the NHS in support of the NHS IT agenda and reform for over 15 years. He has lead responsibility for development of the health, social care and other clients in the broad public sector clients. In a previous role he managed and directed a technical consulting and solution business, which operated exclusively in healthcare for ten years, growing twenty fold in that time.
James’s core skills are engagement with business issues, innovative client solutions, constructing mutually benefit partnerships, deep understanding of grass routes NHS and professionalism
James is seen to be a trusted advisor to clients in the provision of enterprise IT solutions and change. Operating at acute, primary, social and strategic levels to move the NHS forward, to promote best practice, share experience, partners and clients.
Being core to the sale, design, build and operation of full site wide IT infrastructure including MAN’s, SAN’s, site wide integration engines, departmental applications, tactical solutions and in recent times cutting edge business change has given James broad experience of the IT and business arena.
Coming from an IT background in provision of a technically enabled solution, James is now focussed on enabling the realisation of the benefits of the IT through change management and business evolution to enable significant business benefits for the clients, the partners and the IT market.

James supports the Intellect health and social care committee as vice chair, work within the health care group, across the NHS Acute, Primary and social care landscape as well as working in partnership with leading IT vendors and IT partners to enable their IT empowered business change.
Outside of the NHS and social care arena, James drinks a lot of coffee, shares his public sector experience, rides a mountain bike, drives fast cars and does far too much DIY.
