About the group

The Transformational Government strategy highlighted the need for effective processes to ensure continued innovation and knowledge sharing in the public sector. This will require a shift across public sector culture that both encourages and enables the joined up creativity, will and capability to implement radical new ideas.

The Intellect Innovation workstream aims to support government in seeking out and nurturing innovation to help achieve the objectives of the Transformational Government Strategy. In October 2006 the workstream published the ‘Releasing Innovation’ white paper, and has since focused on exploring ways of embedding innovation across a broad range of processes.

The workstream recently re-focused its effort in the three key areas below, and is currently working to create activity plans for each focus point.

• Culture (private, individual and public)
• Collaboration
• Engagement (including social networking)
