Q: How do you define your groups? A: We have three different types of groups whose running is dictated by the end output. Our members find that this categorisation means efficient meetings can be run, where purpose and agenda are clear and focused towards the end goal.

Q: I’m unsure which one of your 70 groups I should join. A: Intellect runs over 70 groups and committees. These cover a vast range of topics, from consumer electronics and energy and the environment, to security and resilience and intellectual property rights. The group(s) you join will obviously depend on your needs. Q: How much of my time will be needed if I’m attending a group meeting? A: To get the most from Intellect, you need to get involved. We find that members report the most positive return on their membership if they attend at least one meeting or event per month. Meetings and events generally take up a half-day, including at least an hour’s networking time. One way to mitigate the impact on your own time, and get better value from your membership, is to make sure that other people from your organisation get involved.
Q: How will I get to meet potential customers and suppliers?
A: Not only do some of the SME Group meetings feature speakers from customers and large vendors, but also there are many sector-focused groups within Intellect that have strong customer and supplier representation at their meetings. You can also attend Intellect events, which are actively marketed outside the organisation in many cases.
Q: I need some HR advice – quickly. Can you help? A: HR Query Service (members only) Intellect provides a free, anonymous query service for HR professionals, or anyone needing their HR related questions answered. Responses to previous questions are also available to members on our website, meaning intelligence is literally at your fingertips. From questions around overtime, time in lieu and age band pensions to car allowance, work visas and payroll polices, our database of Q&As is found to be a great source of reference for employers and employees.

Q: Who are the Intellect board and committee members? A: Intellect’s Board is where you will find the top executives from some of the world’s leading high tech organisations. Six times a year Intellect’s Board meet to debate the challenges and opportunities for the technology industry. Intellect’s Finance Committee ensures Intellect meets its financial and legal requirements and monitors the financial performance of the organisation. Intellect’s Membership Committee comprises a cross section of members from different sectors and different sized organisations. Working with the Intellect membership team they advise on recruitment plans and help to ensure that Intellect grows and maintains its high quality membership. Intellect’s Operations Board agrees the annual business plan and budget and supports Intellect’s Board in the implementation of our vision and mission.
