Intellect IT Supplier Code of Best Practice
Guidelines
Based on recent experience, the Guidelines for the Code have been extensively revised and now set out, in practical high-level terms, the actions that Customer and Supplier organisations should take first to incorporate the Code within their management policy framework and then to apply the Code successfully for individual projects and programmes.
The Guidelines also describe the actions that companies can take to register their formal adoption of the Code and present evidence of their compliance to it.
As a recent NAO report commented, 'At a corporate level, departments are increasingly aware of (initiatives such as the Code of Best Practice) through their Centres of Excellence, but these initiatives have yet to reach project teams. The challenge for the OGC, departments and agencies, and suppliers, is to continue to work together to ensure that these initiatives result in a step change in the management of major IT-enabled projects.'
The IT Supplier Code of Best Practice has the potential to be an important instrument in establishing a more mature and professional environment for acquisition and delivery across the public sector, but this is heavily dependent on the Code being widely adopted and effectively applied. These Guidelines provide management teams in Customer and Supplier organisations with the high level advice they need to achieve more successful outcomes and we are pleased to commend them to you.
