Intellect Shared Services Working Group
Peter Buchanan has over 30 years experience in the IT industry, and during that time has held a wide range of roles ranging from low level technical through to high level business making him an authority on IT enabled change in the public sector.
Peter created and led the UK eGovernment consulting practice within EDS, a major IS service provider. He is now the industry Executive bringing global knowledge and experience to the EDS UK Shared Services and Centre of Government account (responsible for joined up and shared services, smaller Government customers as well as relationships with influencing bodies, e.g. Cabinet Office and OGC). Before joining EDS Peter held a range of senior roles in the Inland Revenue, where his responsibilities included technical direction, policy impact and architecture.
Outside EDS Peter was one of the founding members of the UK Government Interoperability Working Group and helped develop the e-GIF (Government Interoperability Framework). His contribution was based on an earlier role as technical Director for an interoperability trial of OSI standards based software that concluded that a different approach to standards was necessary. He has been invited to speak at a number of international conferences on this and other subjects.
Peter is also a member of Intellect's Government Group management board and a contributor to the Organisational Professionalism initiative.
