This short film profiles five case studies of business women with successful careers in the vibrant IT sector. Each case study explores how these highly individual women have utilized different aspects of IT to develop flourishing careers. Through these case studies, this film makes a positive statement about how the IT industry can provide a rewarding and lucrative career for modern women who may not have previously considered working there.
Each of our case studies are independent, empowered women, in full control of their personal and professional lives. Each of them is introduced with a short, revealing comment about the part IT plays in their lives during a fast-moving opening sequence using contemporary music. We see them at work – interacting with staff, dealing with phone calls and meetings, working on computers. Interviewed with the bustle of their offices behind them, each talks through the career decisions that have got them where they are today and the positive impact these decisions have had on the rest of their lives. Interspersed are relevant statistics about women in IT – how their earnings can grow, how many more women are moving into the sector.
Along the way, we will dispense with popular misconceptions about IT: that it is a male dominated sector; that it is just for the technologically minded, and that it requires detailed computer knowledge to enter.
Given a contemporary, breezy feel that emphasizes the key messages about IT, this film leaves you feeling that careers in IT have empowered these women. And that it could prove a successful, rewarding career for you too.
