Intellect has responded to government’s consultation on the Carbon Reduction Commitment. While fully supporting the CRC’s aim of reducing absolute carbon dioxide emissions from large organisations, there is a danger that in its current form it will not achieve this. As it stands the CRC will encourage transfers of carbon liability, rather than a net overall reduction in emissions and penalise growth in some parts of the IT sector. This is an important piece of legislation and government must fine tune the details to get it right. View our response (PDF 151KB)
