20/10/05 IT Industry Strengthens Commitment to Best Practice New measures make it easier for Government customers to monitor IT suppliers compliance to the Code’s Ten Commitments Intellect, the trade association for the UK hi-tech industry, has published the first Statements of Approaches from companies who have adopted the IT Supplier Code of Best Practice. The Statements are designed to provide Government customers with a clear understanding of how they intend to comply with the Code, in terms of both process and behaviour. Press Releases Following their publication, Nick Kalisperas, Government IT Director at Intellect said, “Government and Industry have been criticised in the past for IT project failures. The creation of the Code demonstrated that the IT industry was committed to improving its performance and establishing recognised standards of best practice. Companies who produce Statements of Approach are committed to providing higher levels of service and project implementation.” Nick Kalisperas continued, “The time has now come for customers in the public sector to diligently embed the Code, recognise its value and reward those companies who are committed to its adoption. We will work closely with both OGC and the e-Government Unit to ensure that this happens. No longer is it acceptable for organisations and individuals to argue that the IT industry is not reforming its behaviour.”
