We've Come A Long Way – Intellect Welcomes NAO’s Study into Public Sector ICT Procurement
"Britain will only have public services based on value for money, efficiency and effectiveness when Government and Industry have successfully cultivated a modern relationship based on openness and trust", said Nick Kalisperas, Director of Public Sector at Intellect today.
His comments were made following the publication of the National Audit Office (NAO) study, 'Improving Procurement – Progress by the Office of Government Commerce in improving departments capability to procure cost-effectively'. Within the study Intellect and the OGC were praised for the progress achieved so far through initiatives such as the Code of Best Practice, Concept Viability and Effective Partnering Guidelines, and for the trust which has been built between industry and the public sector.
Responding to the NAO's call for work to continue to make project teams aware of these new initiatives, and to clarify the respective roles and responsibilities of industry and clients, Intellect confirmed that it would be further increasing its efforts to embed these initiatives, and to develop new ones over the next 12 months.
"The work of Intellect and OGC, through the Senior IT Forum, has successfully built a high degree of trust between industry and the public sector, but the work does not stop here. The initiatives launched over the past 12 months provide the framework for change and it is now the responsibility of industry and its counterparts in the public sector to embed these new ways of working and to create real and lasting cultural change".
