eIGT Report Provides Industry with much Needed Blueprint, says Intellect

Intellect has today welcomed the Electronics Innovation & Growth Team Report ‘Electronics 2015’, and considers it the vital blueprint Industry needs if it is to maintain competitive advantage in the global economy.

Commenting following the launch of the Report, John Higgins, Intellect’s Director General said, “The Electronics Industry has long been an important contributor to UK GDP, but its changing shape was not understood and its future was not clear. ‘Electronics 2015’ has provided Industry with the analysis it has been calling for and the focus it deserves. We are confident that the recommendations outlined in the Report will enable the UK Electronics Industry to take advantage of the major opportunities and counteract the potential challenges facing it in the future, and to reassert its position as a heavyweight player within the global economy.”

“The challenge now is to ensure that the pace of transformation does not slow. Intellect will ensure immediate engagement with the Electronics Leadership Council (ELC)and UK Electronics Alliance, and through these channels work with Government and other Industry Groups to prioritise and implement the recommendations as outlined within the Report.”

“Intellect’s members, and their calls for greater understanding of the shape of their Industry, were the catalyst for the eIGT Report. Intellect will now consult with members again, to identify the services which we need to provide to help develop their markets, create opportunities, counteract threats and share best practice along the supply chain. Intellect thanks David Kynaston for his commitment and leadership in the role of eIGT Chairman, and anticipates that Intellect’s Vice President of Electronics will continue to play an active role in the ELC, enabling our membership to continue to take the lead in the rejuvenation of the UK Electronics Manufacturing Industry.”
