"Social and economic benefits of Radio Spectrum Trading must be prioritised", says Intellect Intellect, the trade association for the UK hi-tech industry, has today called on OFCOM to create a single overriding goal for its Radio Spectrum Trading Project, designed to ensure the project succeeds in achieving the maximum effective use of available radio spectrum for the socio-economic benefit of the UK. This is something which Intellect considers to be vital if the UK is to have the tools it needs to achieve its knowledge driven economy aims.
In its response to OFCOM’s Spectrum Trading Consultation Intellect argues that only an effective use of radio spectrum would deliver the series of 'knock on' positive benefits needed by the UK economy.
Commenting on the evidence Tom Wills-Sandford, Intellect's Director of Campaigns said, "Intellect sees Radio Spectrum Trading as a key element in the UK's transition to a knowledge driven economy. By ensuring the maximum effective use of the available radio spectrum OFCOM will pave the way for a greatly improved communications infrastructure, resulting in higher productivity levels and socio/economic success for the UK within the knowledge driven economy".
