Raw Materials Price Hike Spreading to UK
Intellect has today warned that the high demand for raw materials, increasing material shortages and spiralling price rises currently felt in the Far East are now spreading to Europe, leading to price rises for the UK Printed Circuit Board (PCB) industry.
Peter Maguire, Director of Components and Manufacturing at Intellect said, "The past few months have dealt continued blows to the UK PCB industry as prices of raw and auxiliary materials have risen to their highest levels to date."
"In addition to this shortages of key materials such as oil, copper and glass cloth, and an increase in global material demand has also placed an extra burden on the UK's PCB manufacturers."
"Whilst it is the case that PCB manufacturers in the UK have seen major reductions in prices over recent years the recovery in the UK market and the price increases in raw materials will now inevitably result in an upward movement in UK PCB prices. This is inline with the global pricing trend, and will enable the industry to maintain its commitment to the delivery of hi-value and cost effective products and services, and to ensure its continued competitiveness within the global economy."
