Industry’s response to the OGC ICT Market Capacity Report

The Intellect Public Sector Council has published an industry response to the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) ICT Market Capacity Report, which was commissioned by the Government CIO Council and published in September 2006.  The OGC report can be accessed at: www.ogc.gov.uk

Intellect’s response, ‘Smarter use of ICT services capacity by the UK public sector’, supports the OGC report's findings about industry's readiness to meet the challenge of implementing the Transformational Government agenda and makes several recommendations about how government could work with industry to further improve the effectiveness with which it uses the ICT resources at its disposal.

Supplier Management Initiative

Many of the Council’s members are actively involved in the CIO Council’s Supplier Management Initiative and the Strategic Supplier Board.

Common Assessment Framework 360-degree review

Earlier this year the Council was invited, as part of the Transformational Government Supplier Management Initiative, to help take forward the work on the ‘360-degree’ element of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), which currently being piloted by OGC.

The group has developed a questionnaire, which will allow supplier account directors to provide a rating of their government clients’ capability and performance.  A guidance document provides some background to the review and a series of recommendations on the content of the questionnaire and how it should be used.

The CIO Council will be reviewing the questionnaire and guidance at the beginning of 2007, prior to the operational use of the questionnaire in the next round of supplier forums.
