John Cunliffe
Ericsson

John joined GEC Telecommunications (later to become GPT, then Marconi) in 1976 to work on the development of the System X Central Office switch. Many hardware and software development roles followed over a period of fourteen years. Since then John enjoyed a variety of Technology and Network Strategy roles, including a two year period with the Marconi Data Products division in Pittsburgh (formerly FORE Systems) as VP Technology Strategy.

In 2005 John became Chief Strategy Officer at Marconi with responsibilities for Marconi's network vision, technology and partner strategies for major bid responses, research and regulation.

John has worked with customers worldwide at CxO level and has acted for many years as a visiting lecturer at Aston University and more recently at London Business School. John has presented and chaired sessions at conferences worldwide and has also presented to the UK parliamentary IT committee (PITCOM).

Following the Ericsson acquisition of Marconi assets in January 2006, John was appointed CTO for Ericsson North Western Europe in April 2006.

John is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
