Information Superiority communications toolkit
Information Superiority, UK Defence's communications and intelligence capability, is central to current operations in Afghanistan and vital to Britain's future national security.
The Sense, Understand, Share, and Decide functions this area supports are the nervous system of UK Defence, but are often hard for anyone other than the experts to understand.
Working together, the Ministry of Defence and industry (through the Intellect Technology Association) have put together this toolkit to demystify the defence communications and intelligence sector.
Contained within the site are clear and comprehensible narratives for the area and the projects and programmes within it, an overview of how they relate to each other and supporting evidence of the value the sector provides.
MoD and industry can use this jointly owned resource to support and inform their own work and communications around this area as they see fit.
The material on the site is at an Unclassified level, but registration of users is required.
Securipedia
The wiki for the UK Security and Resilience community
Securipedia is an online resource for open source, non-copyright, unclassified information sharing between the UK security and resilience community, including Government, industry, academia, think tanks and other stakeholders. Securipedia is maintained by Intellect, the trade association for the UK technology industry.
Security and resilience stakeholders (especially those in industry, including Intellect members) frequently view such information as difficult to access, not communicated coherently - the fragmented and diffuse nature of the Government response to security and resilience issues makes it difficult to identify and understand the different pieces of the jigsaw.
By collating information in one place and encouraging industry to pool non-proprietary and unclassified information, there is an improvement in the flow of such information. This enables industry to understand the market, both in general and in relation to specific opportunities, and improve the effectiveness of their participation in the UK response to security and resilience challenges.
Security and Resilience programme
Intellect's security and resilience programme reflects the interests of its membership across the many sectors and markets involved in security and resilience. Bringing together the substantial outputs developed by the collaborative efforts of member companies within the programme, the outputs offer a wealth of knowledge about the UK security and resilience environment, and about how technology can be leveraged to maximise the UKs resilience to increasing security threats.
Intellect's Concept Viability service enables Government to test their ideas by presenting their 'concept' to industry. Industry, acting as an advisory panel, provides the Government with their view on the 'do-ability' of their idea and identify problems that may arise in implementation as well as possible solutions.
