Electronics growth

Electronics growth: The way forward for UK electronics

Electronics growth Type: Intellect report

Summary

The UK electronics industry has changed greatly over the past few years. Increased competition from overseas, as well as the general drift towards a more service orientated economy, has meant that the need for industry to work together to adapt to these new realities is greater than ever.

The primary means for Intellect members to engage with industry-wide issues, monitor how the market is developing, and agree common positions on issues crucial to the future health of the market is through our subsector specific interest groups.

Each interest group is chaired by a well known industry figure, and meets on a quarterly basis.

We realise that membership of a trade association is a significant investment for many companies, and that you should get a noticeable return on that investment.

Intellect has the unique capability to put you in a room with key decision makers from major purchasers of components as well as household name OEMs whether they are existing customers or not. This can prove crucial in developing your business for the future.

PCB Design Data Guide

PCB Design Data Guide

PCB data design guidePublished: 2009

Type: Business guidance

Summary

PCB fabricators have, for some time now, struggled with how to encourage designers and customers to ensure that the data they provide is always complete and accurate. Poor data at any point in the process can at best slow it down, and at worst lead to end products that are not fit for purpose.

To help mitigate this risk, Intellect’s PCB Fabricators and Suppliers Group has developed this checklist to help ensure that the design data provided for PCB manufacture is as clear, accurate and comprehensive as possible.

This guide is intended to help designers consider all the issues and questions that need addressing to enable the PCB Fabricator to produce the product they require.

In the report there are a number of conditions that must be met prior to the successful establishment of a large scale event.

These include:

  • identifying an event theme that is clearly market orientated
  • initiation of a Global public relations and marketing campaign conducted by a top tier consultancy
  • significant and high level Government support in recruiting high level speakers
  • attracting an events organiser, with significant international experience.
