Previous Event 2011 - Intellect Outstanding Achievement Awards

Intellect has awarded three senior figures Outstanding Achievement Awards as recognition of their work as chairman of groups and councils. The awards were presented at the March board meeting which included a meeting of the Intellect Leaders Network. Presenting the awards David Callaghan, Deputy President of Intellect's main board thanked all three for their efforts on behalf of Intellect and its members. The three recipients were: Gavin Jones, Jeremy Nettle and Victor Chavez.

Intellect’s Leaders Network is a mixture of Intellect’s main board members and Chairs/Vice-Chairs of its groups, committees and councils. It is designed to bring greater collaboration and networking between two of Intellect's most influential groups.

Gavin Jones (representing IBM UK) - Chair, Smart Grids & Smart Metering and Utilities Groups

  • Chair of both the Smart Grids & Smart Metering and Utilities Groups
  • Has helped develop the groups from scratch (with a number of different Intellect staff), to create active and important areas of work for Intellect and our members.
  • A great promoter of the value of Intellect and our work to the wider stakeholder community, members and prospects
  • Brings consistent direction, value, ideas and wider perspectives helping develop Intellect’s positions, programme and new opportunities
  • Strongly represents Intellect at external meetings

Jeremy Nettle: (representing Oracle Corporate UK) Chair, Healthcare Council

  • Chair of Healthcare Council (since 2007), which sets the direction for the healthcare programme that engages 240 members and is the most active programme in Intellect.
  • A consistent source of quality guidance and advice and gets members engaged. 
  • Has committed a huge amount of his time to supporting Intellect activities both in-house, at external events and in the press
  • Has actively promoted the benefits of Intellect to the DH, NHS and suppliers helping raise the programme’s reputation to be first point of contact for government, especially during last year’s turbulent times and in connection to the health reforms introduced.
  • Has helped bring in new members into Intellect.

Victor Chavez (representing Thales UK) - Chair of the Defence & Security Board

  • Consistently represents Intellect at a number of industry wide forums including the National Defence Industries Council and the Defence Industries Council
  • Has been instrumental in promoting Intellect’s talking points to stakeholders, including Ministers, Members of Parliament, and the wider community (such as the RUSI Information Superiority Conference). Moreover, Victor is viewed by John Higgins as one of the best promoters of Intellect’s messages and ambassador for the industry.
  • Has committed a huge amount of his time to support Intellect activities whether it be meetings with ministers, chairing workshops, or supporting events
  • Has been a consistent source of guidance and assistance to a fully new D&S team
