Intellect announces new Director General
London. January 19, 2012: Intellect the trade association for the UK’s technology sector has announced that Julian David will be the next director general, succeeding John Higgins. Mr. David brings a wealth of business experience from across the technology industry. He has acted as a consultant to large and small companies and previously held senior posts with IBM. Mr. David has been actively involved in Intellect for a number of years. He is currently a member of the Intellect board and its public sector council. Away from work he is a school governor and Chair of the External Advisory Panel of the Masters in Information Leadership course at City University London. Commenting on his appointment, which he will take up on March 19, 2012, Mr. David said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to lead Intellect which has established its place as the voice of the technology industry in the UK. Our members are at the heart of innovation and creating positive changes across the economy. “These are clearly challenging times but I am confident that the technology sector will play a major role in driving productivity and growth to ensure economic success and the creation of jobs and wealth. I am particularly looking forward to building on the work the Intellect team has done to ensure we have people with the right skills for this exciting industry. "Intellect has a strong SME community and I will be ensuring that their voice is heard in government and that the great success stories from this community are fully recognised.” Intellect President David Callaghan said: "We are delighted that Julian is taking on the role of director general.
