Groups and Committees

What are Intellect groups and committees?

Intellect runs over 70 groups and committees. These cover a vast range of topics, from consumer electronics and energy and the environment, to security and resilience and intellectual property rights. We are confident you will find something of interest to you and your company that will be of direct business benefit. Attendance is FREE* to all members and unlimited in number of meetings you can attend. Whatever your reasons for joining, from networking or improving your business performance to helping shape markets and influencing policy, we promise you these gatherings will be found invaluable.

What are they designed to do?

Run by our experienced staff and members, attendance will mean you will:

  • exchange important  and timely industry information with peers to help improve your business performance
  • network and learn from other established and learned professionals
  • help shape markets via using the insight and intelligence that we can provide to help raise industry and sector profiles or improve customer/supplier interface.
  • help create the right policy framework for business prosperity via strengthening your policy agenda,  policy analysis and formulation, engaging in consultations and consensus building, and lobbying. See our work with Intellect Wireless Council, where the Council works to promote the use of wireless technologies for the benefit of Intellect members, industry and the UK and European economies.
  • develop best practice by agreeing and producing industry and sector benchmarks

How do you define your groups?

We have three different types of groups whose running is dictated by the end output. Our members find that this categorisation means efficient meetings can be run, where purpose and agenda are clear and focused towards the end goal.

Councils

Established to directly work with our customers (eg the government), on specific industry issues or to provide oversight over certain programmes by focusing on policy setting and decision making. Membership is primarily derived through invitation or by election. See Consumer Electronics Council and Public Sector Council.

Special interest groups

Led by elected speakers, these programmes cover a variety of topics. These include monitoring best practice and identifying topics of interest and experts in the field, to building relations with key stakeholders and promoting knowledge sharing/networking among and between member companies and stakeholders. Activities are overseen by a management committee and comprises of member companies.

Working groups

Smaller, output orientated groupings established to produce specific outputs/responses to specific disruptions in or across certain market sectors. These can be in the form of anything from whitepapers or consultation papers. Participation is open to all member companies. See Document Management Group or Government Group.

Where are the groups held?

They are held at Intellect offices, in Central London where we also offer you wireless network facilities to check your emails should you so wish. Hot and cold refreshments with biscuits are also on tap.
