Pace Micro Technology, the UK-owned manufacturer of set-top boxes (STBs), was the leading producer in the global set-top box market in the second quarter of 2011, according to Infonetics Research. The data showed that Pace had higher STB revenues than second-placed Motorola due to the fact that it offered solutions across all market segments (specifically for the cable, satellite and telecommunications markets). Teresa Mastrangelo, Analyst at Infonetics Research, said "the overall set-top box market held steady in the second quarter of 2011, with pockets of growth evident in all regions, particularly Central and Latin America. Pure IP STBs remain a bright spot, with year-on-year global revenue growth of over 27% as telcos are experiencing strong demand for their IP-based video services."
