State of the Sector | President's Report 2011

Published: May 2011
Intellect staff describe the forces at work in different parts of our membership and external analysts set out their views of the various sub-sectors we represent.
This year’s report is published against a backdrop of continuing economic uncertainty and major changes in the delivery of public services. In his conclusions John Higgins examines the impact these are having on our membership.
As the trade association for the UK’s technology sector Intellect is uniquely placed to provide a robust and reliable view of the current landscape, drawing on the experiences of more than 780 member companies ranging from multi-nationals to SMEs.
The industry has welcomed the government’s rallying call that the UK is open for business but now want to see evidence that they are placing technology and ‘digital excellence’ as an imperative for sustainable growth in the UK.
In the year ahead Intellect will continue to be the collective voice of its members, speaking to public and private sectors in an informed and compelling voice to create a commercial environment in which they can thrive, and bring members together with market opportunities to help them prosper.
