Consumer Electronics
As the leading trade body for UK consumer electronics manufacturers, Intellect represents all the major blue-chip CE manufacturers and accounts for around 70% of the UK CE market. Intellect allows members to network, and improve their business performance, whilst helping to shape markets and influence policy. Directing sector representation to government, broadcasters, and technical bodies is then paramount to our CE activities, and we work to enable growth by helping to create the best political and regulatory environment.
AchievementsAchievementsSuccessfully lobbied for the confirmation of the Digital TV switchover project in 2005. Intellect have been board members of Digital UK, who manage the transition from analogue to digital TV, since 2005 and contributed to the development of the digital tick logo for digital TV equipment. Helped to grow the HDTV market in the UK through development and introduction of the HD-ready logo across Europe and working closely with broadcasters on the introduction of HD services on Freesat and Freeview. Contributed to the European code of conduct on energy efficiency and helped develop the Energy Savings Trust (EST) Energy Savings Recommended (ESR) logo which identifies the most energy efficient CE products. Enabled Intellect to grow as the voice of CE manufacturers and developed the annual Intellect CE Conference which is the one point in the year where manufacturers, retailers, broadcasters and government come together to discuss the development of the market.
