Document Management: MoReQ what do we do now
Published: November 2010

Summary
MoReq is a Model Requirements specification for electronic records management systems. Widely regarded as a de facto standard, it documents one view of good practice in the management of electronic records – a view that is widely used in the UK, Europe and beyond. However, like other standards that address state-of-the-art issues, it occupies a place in a rapidly changing landscape, and is itself evolving in response.
The evolution of MoReq – and in particular the present MoReq2010 project – is causing uncertainty in the marketplace, among users and vendors alike. This paper aims to explain the uncertainty, and to provide guidance on how to respond to the complex set of standards addressing electronic records management. It contains advice for producers of electronic records management software, for users of such software, and for educators.
