Introduction

This report aims to show how the market opportunity presented by the phenomenon of the connected home can be accelerated, with benefits for consumers, government, and for industry.

The report has been put together after discussions with industry experts across a number of vertical and horizontal domains. Our approach has been to explore selected vertical markets and use them as illustrations to understand some of the challenges across technology, networks, old and new buildings and consumer concerns.

It is probably true that we are in the very early stages of this market. However, by identifying some of the future issues and challenges, we are hopeful that we can accelerate the evolution of this market for the benefit of consumers and businesses.
