The UK Space Conference 2011 brought together the space community for an in-depth discussion on the state of the space sector around the UK and around the world. The conference presented a platform for government, industry, and academia to engage with each other and with the wider public.

What was discussed?

The UK Space Conference 2011 enabled dialogue and exchanged information between government, industry, and the research community, and highlighted the connections between the space sector and other sectors in the UK economy. The UK Space Conference had a varied programme, with a platform for policy announcements, industry priorities and perspectives, and the spotlight on key innovations and research outcomes that will help shape the sector. The conference also enabled the community to engage with the UK Space Agency and help set the priorities for the Agency's leadership in the UK space sector.

What did I miss?

With attendees from across the country and around the world, the UK Space Conference:

  • brought links between industry, academia and the public sector by acting as a networking hub to increase collaborative working

  • provided an opportunity for students to learn about space careers prospects and for industry to recruit motivated and skilled people

  • increased knowledge at all levels on national space policy and the UK space programme

  • showcased UK excellence in the space sector to the wider public.

Attend the UK Space Conference 2011 Dinner and Sir Arthur Clarke Awards»» At the end of day one of the UK Space Conference, delegates continued to network at the conference drinks reception and dinner.

The drinks reception, was sponsored by VEGA Space, and was held from 18:30 in the Panorama Bar.

The conference dinner, sponsored by Reaction Engines, was held from 19:30 in the Panorama Suite.

The Sir Arthur Clarke Awards, sponsored by UK Space Agency, were for achievement in the space sector and was presented at the end of the dinner. These Awards are given annually in recognition of notable contributions in space activities.
