Ann Sta became Head of Galileo Programme Division in Department for Transport at the beginning of 2008; moving with Galileo to the UK Space Agency in June 2011 where she has taken on the role of Director of Growth, Applications and EU Programmes. Her remit now covers the EU Space Programme, GMES, the Growth agenda for space as well as Galileo. She has been Deputy Chair of the Administrative Board of the European GNSS Agency (the GSA) since 2009.
She is a career civil servant whose former roles have ranged across national, local and international issues. They include head of Aviation Airspace Division at DfT, managing the organisation which issues licenses to goods vehicles operators and merging that organisation with the Vehicle Inspectorate to form VOSA. She spent four years working on ozone layer policy during the time production of the major ozone depleting chemicals was phased out by international agreement.
